Hand-coloured etching of a little native New Zealand black robin or karure/kakaruia, only found on the Chatham Islands. This bird was brought back from the brink of extinction through the work of Dr Don Merton (NZ Department of Conservation) on Little Mangare Island. Mary Taylor wrote and illustrated a beautiful, moving story about his relationship with the one remaining breeding female at the time, "Old Blue." Each etching is handmade and individually hand-coloured with watercolour paints.
