Nicola Thompson - VEILINGS

I have painted this series of everday objects to depict soft and
peaceful moments. The curtaining veils have a fascinating serene
quality to them when the slightest of breeze or uninvited movement
passes through that small moment in time.
The very gentle feel the veil evokes on such objects makes the observer put themselves in that particular space for just a moment before
returning to what they were doing. It's like you are made to stop for a
moment and just be still. The veils create this softness to hardness with
a very soft quiteness, a flawless quality to drape itself over even the sharpest of objects. The involvement of nature shows, it too is there for just a moment like the breeze through the veiled curtains.
