Corrugated Iron Sculptor

Originated from the South Island, a little town called Akaroa, Banks Peninsula. "From a young age, having always been handy with my hands I took up a 4year apprenticeship as a fitter welder at Andrew and Beavon, the Christchurch branch. On completing this I left the South Island to establish myself in the sunny North, travelled around from job to job repairing, manufacturing specialised equipment, from building motors to bull dozers, screening plants to logging equipment, really the whole transport industry. Finally settled in Whangarei now for 22 years. I started up my own business 15 years ago problem solving all sorts of jobs. My work is extremely varied, so with this, 2 years ago I was commissioned to make a life size pregnant cow and that's how Rustic Twist was formed."Master of one off designs and creators of a wonderful array of indoor/outdoor sculptures and furniture using recycled steel, rebar, iron and copper. The collection now includes : - Billy goats, kids, angora or feral, sheep, kiwi, chooks, roosters, pigs, fantails, tuataras, mushrooms, frogs, cacti, cacti water fountains, dogs, elephants, turtles and fishes, with some produced in miniature form. Other commission work has included a mermaid, life size llama, with inquiries to make an alpaca, ostrich and a horse with the company's name in copper letters. He has also produced a lifesize Friesan cow for a stud-farm.

Rodney has been a top selling sculptor with Art by the Sea gallery for over 10 years and his work is held in collections throughout New Zealand, Australia, Uk as well as other overseas areas.
