Penny arrived in New Zealand in 1975 with a background in art (mainly oil painting) and crafts. After joining Auckland Studio Potters she became a fulltime potter for about eighteen years. During this time she was a founding member of Pots of Ponsonby and spent eight years on the organization of the Fletcher Challenge International Ceramics Exhibition. Her raku fired ceramics are featured in New Zealand and international collections.
In 1995 she returned to fine arts and through a friend and mentor, Joan Stevens Taylor, she started exploring printmaking, taking classes at the Mairangi Art Centre on Auckland's North Shore. Since then she has participated in many group exhibitions finding this new direction exciting and fulfilling.

Penny lives in Devonport in an old workmans cottage built in the 1860's. She has a studio there and is still a member of the printmakers group at Mairangi Art Centre. She also enjoys embroidery and gardening.
