| Devonport artist Daryl Price is unashamedly convicted of impressionistic tendencies. A fan of the masters and inventors of Impressionism such as Cezanne, Seurat, Monet and Vincent Van Gogh, Daryl has been a painter for over 25 years and has sold in excess of 250 works since first picking up the brush. Having spent a season in Provence a lot of his Italian and French work found its roots there. On his return to New Zealand he continued to paint in this theme but adapting his viewpoint to the landscape he found in his extensive travels across New Zealand. (As a landscape artist particular places of interest to him were The Kaipara and Hokianga harbours Northland and the mountain ranges and hills of southern Canterbury). Daryl works with a thick palate of imported oils and when a work is completely dry finishes it off with a beeswax varnish. He is a full-time artist and his works are held in collections throughout New Zealand, England and Australia. |
